Originating from the preserved tile lettering of a mid-century shoe store, Wadsworth transforms a piece of Gainesville, Georgia’s visual history into a refined display typeface. Expanding on the original “BUTLERS” mosaic, Wadsworth carefully reconstructs and modernizes its letterforms, balancing clean geometric structure with subtle Art Deco influences. The result is a typeface that maintains the precision of its tiled origins while adapting to contemporary design needs.

With its sharp construction and confident presence, Wadsworth is designed for impactful use in headlines, branding, and display applications. It carries the essence of its source—bold, elegant, and deeply rooted in craftsmanship—while offering versatility for modern typography. Beyond its functional use, Wadsworth serves as a testament to the enduring nature of design, preserving a fleeting moment in architectural lettering and reinterpreting it for new creative possibilities.

Wadsworth was featured in the 2024 AU Type Foundry Exhibition, "The Archive," a showcase dedicated to the preservation and revival of lost and forgotten letterforms. The exhibition explored how typography can serve as both an artifact and a tool for contemporary expression, bridging the past and present through intentional design.
